As the excitement builds surrounding the upcoming University Interscholastic League (UIL)
realignment for the 2024-26 football seasons, VISD has reached a decision regarding its
participation in the alignment process. After careful consideration and evaluation of the numbers submitted to the UIL, VISD has chosen not to opt up its schools into a higher division for competition.
With the UIL's snapshot number deadline of November 6, 2023, rapidly approaching, VISD wishes to provide clarity for the schools within the district, comprising two traditional schools and three alternative schools. The decision has been made based on the numbers reflecting the students on each campus, including those at VISD Success Academy, Juvenile Justice Center, and Disciplinary Alternative Education Program campuses.
VISD's two traditional schools will not opt up, and the district has formally requested that these
schools be placed in the division where their enrollment numbers naturally fall, thereby ensuring equitable competition.
This decision by VISD underscores the district's commitment to providing fair and balanced opportunities for its student-athletes while aligning with the UIL guidelines and principles.
VISD eagerly anticipates the upcoming UIL realignment announcement in February 2024 and
looks forward to the continued growth and success of its athletic programs.
Victoria East UIL numbers are 2044.
