The Victoria Independent School District Board of Trustees has approved the appointment of Sherry Phillips as principal of Shields Elementary.
Phillips brings over 30 years of experience in public education, including extensive leadership experience at the elementary level. She most recently served as the interim principal at Shields Elementary, where she supported students, staff, and families while maintaining a strong focus on instructional leadership and campus culture.
Prior to joining Victoria ISD, Phillips spent three decades with Calhoun Independent School District. Her career included service as an elementary principal, assistant principal, instructional specialist, and classroom teacher. She is known for building positive school climates, mentoring educators, and using data-driven practices to support student success.
Phillips holds a masterโs degree in educational administration from Lamar University and a bachelorโs degree in elementary education from the University of HoustonโVictoria.
