Victoria ISD is expanding the opportunity for all students to graduate high school with college credits already earned. Through its new Freshman 2 Freshman (F2F) dual credit initiative, students can begin their college journey as early as their freshman year in high school. The F2F initiative is launching this fall, and students may begin taking college-level courses at no cost to families.
Once accepted and students commit to the F2F initiative, students will officially become part of F2F Cohort 1.
“This is a transformational opportunity for our students and families,” said VISD Superintendent Sheila Collazo. “By starting early and committing to a pathway, our students can leave high school well on their way toward a degree. It’s about creating access, building confidence, and providing college credit attainment that accelerates their degrees and career goals at no cost to students or families.”
Key Features of the F2F Model
A structured plan for the first two years of coursework, with increased choice in the junior and senior years to align with each student’s future goals;
Prioritized in-person instruction through junior year; and
A built-in cohort for peer accountability and shared success.
Victoria ISD has removed all financial barriers. Every dual credit course will be offered at no cost to VISD families.
Traditional dual credit enrollment will continue to be available to sophomores and juniors during spring course selection. Counselors will support students in building individualized college and career plans.
This fall semester, VISD campuses will host Victoria College application support sessions, followed by advising meetings in the spring to select students’ first dual credit course. Families will receive ongoing communication with key dates, checklists, and reminders.
Students who remain on the F2F pathway may earn up to 60 college credit hours and could even complete an associate degree before graduating high school.
Additional information will be shared with students and parents by campus counselors.
